I signed up, with Romance Writers of America, to finish a book in a year. I'm stuck at chapter four because I did a lot of Care First on helping the sick and elderly. Then, I became ill for three weeks with a bacterial infection. I'm still batteling the infection with high doses of antibiotics which makes me sick.
I have three unfinished manuscripts in my possession: one under the bed, one in my file cabinet and one on Microsoft Word. These manuscripts were a great way to exercise my writing skills at the time. I haven't reread them and I'm not sure that I have time to polish and edit them. I have all of this month to get one of them ready. Then I'll have to go through all of the steps from cover design, formatting and pricing. I ask myself, should I let these manuscripts go to waste. I have been known to write two novels at a time, and chances are, I won't have enough time to start a new manuscript. Question! Can these manuscripts be salvaged? Are they stale or outdated? I may have to change my characters and genre, move my settings and add new content to make a saleable novel. I do have the experience of what I have learned after completing and selling four novels and I can apply what I know now to those pages of the unfinished manuscripts.
