A website can be a huge marketing asset to sell your books. An author has to find ways to stand out by keeping viewers lingering and interacting with her/him. Create a clean and simple website viewers can easily browse.
Supporting others' websites or social media will encourage reciprocity. Links to another site can direct traffic to your website.
Authors can increase back link traffic by posting links on Facebook and Twitter. An author can set up their profile on Goodreads, other author's sites and their fan's sites that can encourage reciprocity.
If you build up links from quality websites with high page ranks and have people discussing your website, your page website will become greater, more numerous and with more visitors.
You are going to have to sit down and write content that you think would be interesting to your readers and once you become successful, you can get down to using key words that your readers will respond to.
If you are using free domain names and hosting, using an unknown company, I can tell you now that you will not succeed. There are two reasons why: #1. A free domain name from an unknown conveys a lack of confidence in your website and reduces the chance of users and search engines seeing your site as an un- trustworthy site. Nothing is free. #2. You will never succeed using an unknown free domain and hosting. This conveys that you are not confident enough in yourself and ability to succeed, and you are likely to quit when you don't see sales expand.
Word Press is completely free. It's used by websites and brands such as Forbes, Snoop Doog, CNN and millions of others.

Offering e-readers, books and gift cards will encourage reciprocity. Don't pay for followers because many of these followers could be spammers and people outside your target market.
